Do I have to pay emoluments to the GEMA or other organisations for my music sold on CDs?
Emoluments are paid for sold CDs, only. But it's on you to care about these payments. If you are not a member of the GEMA and GEMA-partners no emoluments must be paid as long as you wrote your music on your own.
If you are using music and lyrics written by other people you have to pay them directly or in case they are members of the GEMA or GEMA-partners you have to pay to the GEMA. The GEMA will lead your payment to the GEMA-partners if necessary.
If you are a member of the GEMA or a GEMA-partner and used only your own words and music please ask the GEMA or GEMA-partner if payments are needed because it doesn't realy make sense to pay for yourselve.
In case of paying emoluments you should care about after recieving your summary of sold CDs.
Emoluments for sold downloads are kept and paid by the download stores.
